This is the 13th vintage of the Premium range of Rieslings, a terroir wine from Helm Wines using the most premium fruit from that vintage. The wine is only released under the Premium black label if it reaches a quality benchmark. Since 2004 this style has collected 14 trophies at regional and capital city wine shows, and rave reviews from Australia’s most respected wine critics.
The 2019 vintage was one of the most unusual with very low winter rain, frost free spring, excellent fruit set and good rains up to December then very dry till harvest. The conditions resulted in a record crop set, slow ripening conditions due to the lack of rain, which meant harvest was late and took place at the end of March. The quality of the grapes was not affected, and instead we saw a record high quality vintage.
A delicate cool-climate Riesling. Juicy lime and crunchy green apple flavours intertwined with that typical Murrumbateman mineral acidity. Lingering and refreshing. Will continue to blossom over time.
A versatile wine that will complement a variety of cuisines, particularly Asian cuisine and seafood.
25 years plus, although if you prefer fresh crisp wines drink it over the next 5 years.Back to all wines
